Why Spray Tan? With the cases of skin cancers on the rise, a spray tan offers a safe alternative to achieve a natural looking tan. In just a few minutes, you can have a healthy glow without exposure to the sun and dangerous UV rays.
What is DHA? DHA (scientific name Dihydroxyacetone) is a derivative of sugarcane and beets. It is not a real tan. It will also not protect you from the sun’s harmful rays. When mixed with water it produces no color and actually goes on clear. Because of this, it is important to have the added bronzer to act as a color guide to aid with precise application. Bronzers wash off completely with the first shower after your spray tan.
Is it safe? Yes. DHA is derived from plant sources (sugar beets and sugar cane) and is safe. DHA only penetrates the outermost layer of skin and does not enter the bloodstream. Although considered safe for pregnant or nursing women, it is advised to check with your doctor first to make certain that it is right for you.

How long does it last? The length of time a spray tan will last is generally around 7-10 days, with natural, gradual fade. Everybody’s tan lasts a slightly different length of time, which has nothing to do with the product. The speed at which your skin cells turn over has a huge effect on how long your tan will last. Although there is nothing you can do about the speed at which your cells regenerate, you can prolong the life of your tan by moisturizing twice daily with a lightweight lotion and following post tan maintenance instructions.
What is the advantage of spray tanning over UV tanning? Spray tanning will not contribute to the development of melanoma, wrinkles, age spots, freckles or sunspots. People with sensitive or fair skin in particular will find spray tanning to be a great alternative to achieve a nice glow.
What should I wear? Attire for women is whatever you are comfortable with. Many things can be done to minimize tan lines. This is all dependent on your comfort level. A bathing suit, underwear, topless or totally nude is completely up to you. For men, we suggest boxers, swim trunks or shorts. Dark clothing is recommended, although the solutions used are water based and will not stain most fabrics.
Will it stain my clothes / sheets? Until your post-tan shower, your airbrush tan may stain some fabrics. Most fabrics are completely safe. Stains can be lifted by simply washing.
Can a spray tan be removed? The color produced will gradually fade as the upper layers of the epidermis wear away. You can speed up the exfoliation process by soaking in a warm bath for a ½ hour and gently scrubbing the skin with a wash cloth or loofah. Do not over scrub! It may take up to a week or so for the tan to disappear.
What if a person usually cannot achieve a tan? The beauty of a spray tan is that a tan can be achieved by anyone, regardless of ability to tan naturally. The DHA works with your skin to produce a bronzed glow.
How long after application can I go in water or sweat? It is recommended to wait 24 hours to make sure that your tan has had time to develop. Sunless tan longevity varies from person to person and according to your lifestyle. Long exposure to water will fade your tan at a faster rate. Using a waterproof oil free sunscreen may help the tan hold up longer in water. Daily moisturizing is also key.
Does it contain sunscreen? Tanning solutions do not contain sunscreen. It is very important to make sure to apply sunscreen or sun block with at least 30 SPF to protect your skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays.
How long does it take to dry? Your tan will dry within seconds of application. You will be asked to wait a few minutes to dress.
Should I shave before and after my spray tan? Shaving exfoliates the skin, so shaving should be done the day before application. After application, be sure to use a new razor and a lubricating product for best results.
